Digital Two for Tuesday 151

Today's guest hostess is Joyce.  Joyce has shared with us a beautiful Distress Resist card that she has designed.  I love the red accent on the bird and the lovely soft tones of the background.

Here is Joyce's Bio in here own words.  "My name is Joyce Lofton (aka Joynana). I am the mother of 2 and the Nana to 4 lovely young ladies. I work every day and don't get to craft much during the week, but I do make up for it on the weekends. I have been blogging for 3 years and have done some kind of crafts since I was very young. But, I started scrapbooking in 2005 when I wanted to put something together for my daughter who was graduating from nursing school. About the time that I started blogging I was introduced to card making and copics and believe me I was not impressed by either. But, after checking out lots of blogs and seeing the things that were being made, I knew that I wanted to do this. I have been hooked every since. "

A description of her technique: "I love trying new techniques and always have several projects in the works. I love challenges and enter as many of them as I can each week.
 My technique this week is DISTRESS RESIST. In my search to find out how to do this. There are several different styles.  First I used versmark to stamp my tree branches/leaves and covered that area with clear embossing powder, then used the heat gun to emboss it. After that was done I used Tim Holtz distress inks wild honey and faded jeans with a sponge applicator to cover the embossed areas.  Using  a piece of paper towel I wiped off the excess ink and the emblossing comes through beautifully.

 

I colored this beautiful bird with my copics E31, G24, R22, Y13, Y11, Y17. the background stamp is from Studio G. the sentiment is from the $1 bin at Michaels and the card stock is from my scrap file. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch that I recently purchased and used the faded jeans ink around the edges of the image. I really like how this card turned out and can't wait to send it to a friend who lives out of town."

Halloween Fun

We have been so lucky this last few months to have many talented artist share their artwork and skills with us.  Today several of those artists took a challenge and created some lovely projects with two Halloween images.  Thank you to Sherry, Joyce and Beverly for these great Halloween projects.

Digital Two for Tuesday 150

Unfortunately, our guest designer is having some computer problems, so we do not have a project for you today.  Hopefully she will get her computer back and running so she can share her artwork with us.

The images from today are from a Buddy Magazine from the 1920's.  This magazine has the best line images and they make great stamps.  I love the asian feel of today's images.  They are great digital stamps.  You can use them whole or break them up into pieces and use the borders separate.

Sunflower

Today I have a image that always reminds me of late summer/ early fall.  It is a beautiful sunflower. 

 Maxine has created a lovely card using this fall image.  You may recognize Maxine as one of our guest hostesses from September.  She is an extremely talented designer.   In this card I love her fall color combination and the beautiful frames around the image.

Digital Two for Tuesday 149

This week our guess designer is Patti LaBombard.  Patti is a talented designer that uses lots of colors in her designs.  Her use of papers adds a special dimension to her cards. Each week we have been so lucky to have talented designers bring us ideas for these digital images.  Sometimes going out of their comfort zone, as I surprise them with the images each time.  

Patti's Project Description:" I have always wanted to do a mosaic and this picture screamed for a mosaic for both the front and the background.  His little eyes are so full of expression.  I just love them.  The background of the picture is done in "Sand White" which is a brown tone in copics.  The tongue and ears are also done in a brown tone in copic, the flesh pink.  The eyes are the plain brown in copic color.  Then a blend on his coat and a blend on the doggy biscuit.  I wanted the matting behind the dog to be darker brown and then I used kraft paper for the card.  I had the dog papers already.  Making the cuts was easy b/c of the picture itself.  I used my 1" punch for the background papers.  I did use a little grey on his nose."

Patti's Bio in her own words....."I am a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother who started out scrapbooking in 2006 when my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  The next year I did another 50th wedding anniversary for my in-laws.  The next year I did all of the pictures I had for my children for their Christmas presents.  Last year a friend introduced me to digital images when we were doing Christmas cards.  That was it for me.  I found my calling.  I jumped in with both feet.  My husband & I moved back to Texas a year & a half ago after living in Florida for 10 years because we felt like we should both be closer to our parents to take care of them.  It makes us closer to all of our family.  We now have a 1 year old Shih-poo named Jax and a 5 month old Shih Tzu named Neda, which is Choctaw for Bear."
