Digital Two for Tuesday 59

This week we have two fun and different images.  Both are from the vintage book In Storyland which has turned out to be a treasure trove of images.  I challenged our wonderful guest hostess Dorcas with these images and she came up with the beautiful card below. I know I say it often but each time our guest host awes me with their talent and Dorcas is no exception. 

Here is her bio in her own words.  "Hi! My name is Dorcas and I'm so happy to host today. A little bit about me: I am married to a very patient man and together we have a 12 year old daughter whom I home school. We share our country home with two cats and seven ducks here in North Carolina..I've been crafting for many years but have found my niche with card making and just love it so much!

I chose the cottage as the focus of my card making today.My husband is English and we lived in London for almost 7 years before moving to the States. It wasn't often we were able to venture out of the city but when we did we loved to explore the small villages round about. Needless to say I just love cottages to bits! On my card I have used Prismacolor pencils, K&Co papers, Celebrate It Ribbon, and embellishments by Recollection.  Grab your digis and go have some fun!"

I Wish I Was At The Beach

Oh, I wish I was at the beach enjoying all kinds of unhealthy foods like french fries and popcorn and walking on the boardwalk.  It is definitely the dog days of summer her in the USA.  It has been a hot one.  I wish I had a little down time from work to enjoy the beach for a week but instead I will have to live vicariously through these lovely vintage beach images from the book In Storyland.  Enjoy.

Digital Two for Tuesday 58

This week we have two more images from the 1920's learn how to sew training school pamphlet.  I love these images.  They are a lot of fun to work with.  Our guest host this week is Tina.  She has made two beautiful projects for us.  I just love her colors and the intricate details in her work.  You can see more of her beautiful artwork at her blog Sow Sprout Bloom.

Over 100,000 hits

Celebrate good times! Well we are over 100,000 hits on the blog counter.  Really I think we are closer to 160,000.  Less than a year ago all my counters on my sites reset to 10,000.  I am not sure why but it must have been a glitch in the system.  Anyway, any excuse to celebrate and if the counter says 100,000 hits that is a good enough reason for me.  To celebrate, anyone who makes a card or project with one of the digital images from the last two weeks, I will post your project here and a link to your blog.  Come on everyone take the challenge!  Let's fill up the page with lots of great artwork.  Email your project to me and a link to your blog at coraharkins@sbcglobal.net.  You have until Friday to send me your artwork.

Digital Two for Tuesday 57

Here are two images from a Delineator magazine from the late 1800's.  This week's guest designer has not let us down.  Pauline has created for us two beautiful and colorful cards to celebrate all things vintage.

Here is her bio in her own words.  "I'm Pauline, from Stawell, a small country town in the south east of Australia. I am married with a special needs foster child who has multiple disabilities, and I am an addicted papercrafter! I love cardmaking, scrapbooking and making jewellery.

For several years I loved rubber stamping, paper folding and piecing, then I discovered card embroidery.... I now design my own stitching patterns when commercially available ones don’t suit my need (mostly I design them for the fun of it all!). Last year I discovered digital stamps....and I love them! I have even been playing with my own designs there too! I also started playing with vintage photo images.... and I love them too! My 'style' could be called 'eclectic' ... as I don't quite seem to fit into any category. My favourite colouring mediums are markers, H20s, and chalks. My favourite embellishments are lace, ribbons, paper and silk flowers, buttons, beads and bling!

Fire!

Fire, Fire.  Here are two more images from the Teddy Books. This time they are from a chapter about putting out a fire.  These bears sure do everything in their travels.  They are so cute.  The artists a the turn of the 20th century were amazing.  Without TV books had so many detailed drawings.

Digital Two for Tuesday 56

Early this year at the flea market I found two fun old books. The Roosevelt Bears 1906 and More About Teddy B and Teddy G and the Roosevelt Bears dated 1907.  Both were written by Seymour Eaton and illustrated by V. Floyd Campbell and RK Culver.  These bears have a lot of adventures.  If these books were in perfect condition they would sell for hundreds of dollars but these were all unbound.  Perfect for scanning.  Lucky us!

This week our guest host is Rheannon.  Rheannon has hosted for us before and created a beautiful bright colored recipe book from our old cookbook images. She told me the images for this week's Digital Two for Tuesday were perfect for her as her family loves to fish.  Rheannon has created a beautiful inspiring card for us today.  I love all the details and how she has colored the image.

Here is her bio in her own words. 

"My name is Rheannon. I live in North Idaho, married to a wonderful man, and have an incredible 6 year old son. I love all types of crafts but have a particular love for paper. I work at a private school during the day, play with my son in the afternoon, and craft till midnight!"
