Digital Two for Tuesday 66

This week our images are from an early 1920's magazine.  Our guest hostess Danielle has worked her magic with them and created two delightful projects to inspire our creative juices. 

Here is Danielle's bio in her own words.  "I am married to the most wonderful man in the whole world. We have 6 kids (ages 15 – 3) who I home school. Each day is a new adventure and I wouldn’t have it any other way! We also have 2 huge black labs. My hobbies are paper crafting, cross stitching, painting and reading. I collect Eiffel Towers, Vintage Crosses and Texas Stars. "

Both of these beautiful images remind me of stories of when my grandmother was much a younger woman. How she loved to dresses stylish. I colored this image with Copics and I used the PTI bookmark die to cut it out. I dug through my button and found this lovely gold one that I thought went with this style very well. I used vintage seam binding ribbon in light brown.

Card:

This image I also colored with Copics and then used pink distress ink around the edges. I found this lovely dp in my stash and used some grey vintage seam binding and another gold button for embellishments.

The Same Background Two Ways

 Today I was scanning some new images and came across a few books with amazing end pages.  The designs are so pretty.  So I played with them on the computer and made them black and white and more stylized.  Here is the same page altered slightly differently.  I though they would make great background papers.

Digital Two for Tuesday 65

Here are two more images from the Tick Tock book for you to enjoy.  This book is a treasure full of beautiful line images.  This weekend I picked up four new books at the flea market from the early 1900's chock full of images for us to play with in our art.  I can't wait to share them.  Also if you are looking for a certain type of image let me know and I will keep an eye out at the flea market.  I love a good hunt.  They need to be out of copyright or I can't share them on the blog, thus the vintage theme.

This week our guest hostess is Yolanda.  She has created two beautiful cards for us today.  I love her rich use of color and the words she has added to her cards.   Her unique coloring has brought the images to life.  I hope you are inspired to take the challenge and create something amazing with this week's images.

Fairy card: The easel card base is a 4.5” x 12” piece of DCWV Autumn Splendor cardstock, purple and bright green Color Box Petal Point ink and colored with Prisma colored pencils, purple DriMark Metallic marker and Copic E50. It’s embellished with tiny Mark Richards crystal star stickers. My fairy card is much more spectacular in real life, alas. My photo didn’t capture the metallic in the purple fairy dresses or the shine of the stars on their wands and above the sentiment as nicely as I would have liked. I am craving some Stampin’ Up Crystal Effects, which would have been very nice for the wings.

Couple card: The card base is the same paper from DCBW Autumn Splendor inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen and colored with Prisma colored pencils and Copic E50. I found an affordable set of Copics called Manga Skin Colors at Amazon.com and have been very pleased with it. I like my card people to be able to be multi-ethnic and this set offers a nice range of skin tones.

Bio: Here is Yolanda's Bio in her own words. " I am an editor for a non-profit and married with three adult sons. I used to scrapbook a lot and dabbled in card making, but I didn’t become a serious card crafter until this May when I discovered Operation Write Home (operationwritehome.org) while on Facebook. My youngest son was about to deploy with the Army and it was the perfect thing for me to be doing. Now I have another enlisted son who is in Basic Training. I’ve enjoyed getting to know people and being a blessing to troops and their families through this great organization. Card making has become a wonderful creative outlet for me. Digital Two for Tuesday 64

This week we have two more images from the children's book Tick Tock.  Our guest designer is a truly talented artist Nancy McGuire.  I just love what she has done with these images.   Here coloring is exquisite.  Be sure to stop by Nancy's blog to see how she made these beauties.

I love their energy, their inquiries, their openness, acceptance, and their sense of adventure. The first weeks of any academic year are hectic to say the least so being asked by Cora to create a card or two was just the motivation I needed to carve out ‘me’ time.

I was so pumped to see the thistle image. I immediately thought of Flower Soft to give it the prickly look it deserved. The second image was just fun to play with!"

This is a little cutie from a 1907 New Idea magazine.  It was an advertisement for a New Idea dress pattern. 

The second image is from a Grape Nuts advertisment from a 1907 New Idea magazine.  They both are such sweet images.  I challenge you to create something beautiful with them. 

Digital Two Tuesday 63

I'm posting a little early this week as it it is a holiday in the USA and I am worried I will forget later.  My delayed posting feature on blogger has been a little wonky lately and goes to draft instead on posting at the selected time.  So instead of taking a chance I figure it is Tuesday somewhere.  This week our images are from a vintage book called Tic Tock Tales for Children from 1922.  I have copied several dozen images from this book.  They are so beautiful and filled with imagination. Our designer this week is Maxine.  Maxine has been a guest hostess before and each time she amazes me with her talent.  She is another international host and is from New Zealand.  You can see more of her artwork on her blog http://www.kiwimeskreations.blogspot.com/

Paris ATC's

Finally I got a chance to scan a few of my projects.  In this one, I used the images from the last few weeks to create this set of ATC's.  I combined them with rubber/clear stamps to add depth to the designs.  The stamps are from Clearly Vintage and Cavallini.  I colored them with Distress Inks and Stickles.  You can see more of my work using my digital images at my blog Paper Flowers.
